GENASIS – new data from MONET-EU

MONET-EU project has been extended; new chemical compounds (PBDEs, HBCDs, drins, PCDDs/Fs, PFCs, CUPs) measured since 2011 have been added.

New data from Kosetice

New data from Kosetice measured in 2014 were added to the database. Following matrices are included: water, sediment, soil, plants, atmospheric deposition and air.


New cruises data added

New data on perfluoroalkylated compounds (PFCs) were added to the Genasis system. Data were analyzed in 92 surface seawater samples taken during the Malaspina 2010 expedition which covered all the tropical and subtropical Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. Additionally, data from cruises Oden 2005 and Amundsen were imported into the database.


The GENASIS and GMP DWH systems were presented at the 11th Summer School on Toxic Compounds in the Environment

The 11th Summer School on Toxic Compounds in the Environment was held at the RECETOX on 15–20 June 2015. The participants of the Summer school were trained in the environmental data management, both GENASIS and GMP systems were introduced and students had a chance to work with the Data Browser of both projects.


New type of data in GENASIS

New data type concerning indoor environment and consumer products were imported to the GENASIS database. Sampling was performed in the Czech Republic, USA and Canada in 2013.

Indoor study in the university campus

GENASIS team analyzed rather heterogeneous data set of indoor air pollution samples using several methods to compare different samplers and an influence of rooms equipment to indoor air pollution.


The GENASIS and GMP DWH systems were presented at the Copernicus conference

Fourth year of the Czech Copernicus national user conference was held on 12–13 May 2015 in Prague. The section “GEO/GEOSS – an opportunity for the Czech Republic“ included, among others, a presentation by Jakub Gregor and Richard Hůlek (RECETOX / IBA MU) entitled “System for the collection and visualization of data of the Stockholm Convention’s Global Monitoring Plan – Czech contribution to GEOSS”. The speakers introduced the GENASIS system as the initial platform and the main data source for the global information system on persistent organic pollutants (GMP Data Warehouse).


New data from the Czech Republic

New data sampled in 2014 in the Czech Republic (projects MONET-CZ and Jihomoravsky region) were added to the GENASIS Data Browser. The samples now cover up to 12-year time series at some sites (project MONET-CZ). Indoor data from the Czech Republic, USA and Canada were imported as well. These data were obtained during 2013 in all the countries.


Analysis of indoor PCBs

For a paper prepared under a leadership of Dr. Lisa Emily Melimuk, an analysis over data from 2011 was prepared, dealing with indoor air concentrations of seven indicator PCB, originating from 17 different households and ambient environment in summer and in winter.


Brominated compounds in mountain regions of China

The support of the GENASIS team was used in the preparation of an article for a high impact factor scientific journal, where GIS was used for spatial analyses and creation of maps.
